TRICOM

UNHRC, UNSC, DISEC

Tricom is a revolutionary new format that challenges years-old MUN traditions. It is perhaps the closest approximation to the neoliberal cosmopolitical vision of the United Nations that one can realistically simulate. Think of it as a blend between a Joint Crisis Committee (JCC) and a double-delegate committee.
The format consists of teams of three delegates. Each team is assigned a country, and the members must divide themselves across three committees: the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC), the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), and the Disarmament and International Security Committee (DISEC). All three committees exist within the same timeline and geopolitical universe, meaning developments in one committee can directly influence outcomes in the others.
Teams are judged not only on traditional MUN criteria ( speeches, lobbying, diplomacy, and paperwork) but also on how effectively they coordinate their country’s foreign policy across committees and collaborate with other delegations.

Protecting Human rights against terrorism in the Sahel

Civilian Rights in the Sahel:
Years of conflict and terrorism in the Sahel have had devastating consequences for civilians, resulting in displacement, restricted access to basic services, and widespread human rights concerns. Communities across the region continue to face threats from both armed groups and ongoing insecurity. The United Nations Human Rights Council focuses on protecting civilian rights, monitoring violations, supporting humanitarian access, and promoting long-term measures to uphold human dignity and strengthen civilian resilience against terrorism.

Preventing the rise of terror groups to power, upholding political stability in the Sahel

(Reestablishing democratic institutions in the Sahel):
The Sahel region, particularly countries like Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger, has experienced repeated military coups and the erosion of civilian governance, leading to weakened state institutions and declining public trust. This political instability has created a vacuum that undermines rule of law and enables conflict to persist. The United Nations Security Council is tasked with addressing these threats by promoting the restoration of democratic governance, supporting constitutional order, and ensuring long-term political stability through peacekeeping mandates, sanctions, and international cooperation.

Disarming Terrorist Groups & Preventing Armed Terror Attacks in the Sahel

Combatting terrorist organisations in the Sahel):
The Sahel has become a hotspot for extremist violence, with groups affiliated with Al-Qaeda and the Islamic State exploiting weak governance and porous borders to expand their operations. These organisations pose a significant threat not only to regional stability but also to international security. The Disarmament and International Security Committee plays a key role in addressing this challenge by promoting disarmament, preventing arms proliferation, and fostering international cooperation to weaken terrorist networks and enhance security across the Sahel.
