CONGRESS OF VIENNA
Determining the preservation of sovereign authority and national self determination in post Napoleonic wars
The Congress of Vienna takes place at a crucial moment in world history. Europe stood at a crossroads in the aftermath of the Napoleonic Wars. The conquests of Napoleon Bonaparte had dismantled long-standing monarchies, redrawn borders, and shaken the foundations of political authority across the continent. The Congress of Vienna sought to restore order by re-establishing state sovereignty and maintaining a balance of power.
However, nationalist movements began to emerge across Europe, demanding the right of peoples to determine their own political status. This committee has been assembled to decide the future of Europe. Delegates must navigate the growing tension between the preservation of sovereign authority and the call for national self determination.
