Uncovering the unexplained: A Bellingcat Investigation

By Sharanya Barwale (Del of Bellingcat) The Bellingcat has discovered that in the Tricom DISEC committee, the UN Secretary-General has been killed. The room is silent, and suspense fills the air in the committee. The sound of pens tapping in anticipation is audible from everywhere. Then, in the crisis update it is found out that Sergeant Ibrahim Tandina was the assassin of the secretary general. Tandina (the assassin) was interrogated heavily and this is what came out into the open. 

Ibrahim Tandina is a Malian man who was considered dead by the Malian government after an attack launched by JNIM on Mali’s capital city, Bamako. This attack caused numerous soldiers to die and the government assumed that sergeant Ibrahim Tandina was one of them. This is when the Malian government issued his death certificate and his wife was even paid a widow’s pension to help raise their children and support the needs of the family. Just three weeks later, Sergeant Ibrahim was found alive at the UN headquarters in New York and that is when he killed the secretary general. There is conclusive proof of him being interrogated and he also verified his identity. The Sudanese army knife was the weapon he used to kill the secretary, a weapon that can only be acquired by being a part of the Sudanese armed forces, which sergeant Ibrahim wasn’t. The question coming to everyone’s mind was: how did he get his hands on the knife? But this question will remain unanswered for a long time.

The sergeant was supposed to be paid 4 unmarked bars of gold from a Chinese mine, but the payment never actually reached him. After his attack, a former disavowed French security official was supposed to come and pick him up but he too never arrived. This is why Ibrahim Tandina went into hiding behind a dumpster near the UN and was later found.

In conclusion, we still don't know who paid the sergeant general to commit this crime but we do know that it will take some time to reach the answer. Bellingcat has uncovered the identity of the assassin and they will discover the identity of the mastermind plotting it too!
