Why journalists truly deserve their role

There’s been a lot of controversy around journalism for years. Whether it’s debating if it’s a high-paying job, easy, safe, or even dangerous at all, there are always two sides to a mirror. Being a journalist isn’t just about talking about recent events; it’s a motivation for delivering the real to your people. For having a powerful passion and belief that civilians deserve to know nothing less but the truth. The truth of what’s really happening in the world.

As a journalist of India Today, we believe that there are certain values, principles, and policies that every responsible and passionate journalist and media outlet must follow in order to fulfill and prove their role in the press. Focusing on fairness is a crucial point that takes courage beyond limits. Challenging authorities or leaders may lead to surveillance, abuse, violation of human rights and even life-threatening in some situations, but having a motivation and passion for submitting the reality of the world to citizens must be of top priority. By analysing all your competitive viewpoints considerably, one can come to the conclusion that fits the situation in a neutral way, while also being aware of what fits one’s stance and policy. Making complex and confusing issues understandable for the public eye is another important ability that requires analytical thinking, logical planning, and good vocabulary. There is no point in duplicating the exact happenings of an event if the public cannot understand it. Information given on events must be sifted through for summarising and rephrasing, hence citizens can comprehend the news better. 

Another major standard all journalists should have is ethical standards. By avoiding topics like misinformation spread by the government, AI-driven disinformation, violent attacks or protests, hackings, and domestic abuse, reporters from fully government-funded outlets are being taught that civilians don’t deserve to face reality! This does not provide any factual accuracy, accountability, and independence within those medias. Promoting transparency and press freedom is needed for nations that state to support liberty and rights for all their citizens and their careers because by addressing genuine concerns, the people are getting their right to information. 

This is our job as reporters. To inform the public of the happenings across the world. Journalists who are run under iron fists sadly don’t yet have the freedom to do that, but with motivation and passion for this career, one must have the bravery to fight against anything that may come their way whether that be stalking, silencing, or even torturing. Journalists must have ambition and need for opinion in this industry and soon, all will pave a path for peace and freedom.
